Madrid travel always enchants everyone who had visited it. From the tourist attractions to motels and car hires almost everything is made ready for those who would tour the city. If you are going to Madrid for just a short visit or a convention, what are the places of interests that you must not dare missed?

Puerta del Sol

Never miss Puerta del Sol which means ‘Gate of the Sun. This is Madrid’s busiest places. This is the middle of the radial network and the location of the famous clock which signals the start of the celebration of New Year and the partaking of the Twelve Grapes.

El Rastro de Madrid or el rastro or most is the open air ‘flea market’. It is situated along Ribera de curtidores and Plaza de Cascorro and held during the year and every Sunday from 9 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon.

The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum is the home of the finest art collection that only Madrid can boast of the collections from Picasso, Mondrian, Duccio, Carpaccio, Lucas Cranach, Van eyck, Van Gogh, Kirchner, Klee and Hopper.

Reina Sofia is also the home of the modern art. Expect a set of perfect modern art collection with Picasso’s with the most important piece. It is open from Mondays to Saturdays 10 in the morning to 9 in the evening and during Sundays from 10 in the am to 2:30 in the afternoon.

The Plaza Mayor is for me considered as a Spanish icon made during the period of Habsburgs. It is located just a few minutes away from Puerto del Sol. This is the place for bullfights, markets, public executions and soccer; in short it is the witness of many historical events and standing at the middle of the place or taking pictures of it is already a moment to remember about in your Madrid travel. Paseos del Prado and El Escorial are also must-see attractions.
